We recently sat down with Charlene Tan, our UNSW Built Environment Professional Placement to learn more about her internship at Urban Property Group, what excites her the most about architecture and design, and what the future holds. 

This 11-week program provides the opportunity for interns to be immersed in the world of design, with real-life hands-on experience within a professional environment. 

Originally from Singapore, Charlene moved to Australia four years ago, and is currently in the last year of her Interior Architecture Degree with honours at UNSW. Of the program, Charlene commented, “It’s been great working with George Massoud and the Urban Property Group team. I’ve had the chance to work on projects at various stages and with different teams, as well as learn about architectural design competitions, policies, sourcing materials and display suites. The hands-on experience with a company that values high-quality design has been indispensable.” 

Sustainable, quality design excites Charlene the most, and she looks forward to either furthering her education with a master’s degree or jumping into an architecture role in residential, or perhaps designing an art gallery or two.
